Taiwan’s First Privately-owned Marine Bunkering Business Celebrated Its 30th Anniversary in Tokyo

【September 30, Epochtimes】(Dispatch from Central News Agency Journalist Huang Ching Ching on September 30th)

Taiwan-based Yi-Chiu Chemical & Technical held a party today at Imperial Hotel, Tokyo to celebrate its 30th anniversary and released the news about the establishment of “Taiwan Fuel” and “CPI”. CPI is the first private marine bunkering business in Taiwan and will start to operate its oil product storage center at Taichung Port 3 officially in November.

CPI, jointly established by Taiwan-based Yi-Chiu Chemical & Technical, Hong Kong-based Ocean Shipping Corporation and Singapore-based Brown Forman Petroleum Corporation, will commence operations in the Taichung Port Free Trade Zone this November to provide marine bunkering and oil product logistic services for the Asia-Pacific region.

Chin Chia-Hong, chairman of Yi-Chiu Chemical & Technical and CPI, and Hong Nien Lin, chairman of Taiwan Fuel Corporation attended the evening party. Chin Chia-Hong said that the more than 30 years of operation has enabled Yi-Chiu Chemical & Technical to grow into a diversified oil product company with onshore and offshore advantages. He hopes that the group will strengthen cooperation with Japan, Singapore and South Korea with the global market in mind to make the Group stronger and sustain its business.

Chin Chia-Hong emphasized in the interview that he was thankful to Communications Port Authority, Ministry of Transportation and Building Council for their support of the achievement of the program. CPI is established to facilitate the free trade port policy of the government and build Taiwan into the most important oil product transshipment center in east Asia. It is estimated to bring 3 million turnover volume per year for Taichung Port and generate an annual revenue up to more than NTD 30 billion. Yi-Chiu hopes to transform Taichung Port into a transshipment station of the free trade port zone and initiate the new epoch of marine bunkering services in east Asia.

CPI Taichung Storage Center is scheduled to commence operations in the Taichung Port Free Trade Zone in November. Following the release of the news on a professional Singaporean mass media yesterday and the celebration of the 30th anniversary in Tokyo today, Yi-Chiu will hold a grand press conference to release the news officially at the end of year in Taiwan.
